Hello
Allow me to share with you a little about myself. I like to describe myself as a corporate refugee. I spent over 20 years working in corporate America. I won't bore you with those details. When I got out, I decided to follow my passion. I opened a wellness center in 2002 and began a new journey. That is where I met Julie, not her real name but the one I use in the book I wrote about our journey togther. My life has never been the same since then. I an author and have written several books about spirituality.
My most recent publications are available for free as whitepapers on the homepage. My current focus is helping individuals who have left religion and are looking to find joy, and hope, and love. Love for others but most importantly love for themselves.
My Story
I was born into an ambiguously Catholic family in Buffalo, NY in 1951. I was the third son in a family of four boys. The fourth son didn’t live very long, and his death was traumatic for the entire family. I followed my older brothers through Catholic grade school, through the only Jesuit high school for boys in town, and I even attended the same Catholic college they graduated from. I received a very valuable gift from the Jesuits. They taught me how to think for myself.
While I was developing the ability to think critically, I realized that the Catholic dogma was not working for me any longer. I didn’t have a better answer to life’s mysteries, so I decided to put the entire question of religion on the back burner. I hoped that somewhere along the road a reasonable alternative would show up.
I spent over 20 years in corporate America, and never had time to revisit my religious beliefs. Until one day when a colleague of mine introduced me to “New Age” thought.
I left corporate America as an official “New Ager” and decided to do something meaningful with my life. I opened a wellness center in 2002 that I named, “Phoenix Rising”. We focused on alternative healing modalities and held workshops and seminars featuring a variety of new age concepts.
I myself learned several alternative healing modalities; craniosacral therapy, massage therapy, and hypnotherapy. For over a decade, I worked with clients one on one in a professional, responsible, and ethical manner. Just to be clear, I no longer practice any of the above mentioned modalities.
Just before Covid hit, I decided to stop seeing clients in person. I focused on reaching individuals through my website. During this same period, I became more and more interested in helping individuals with spiritual development.
The growing interest in Deconstruction and Reconstruction encouraged me to enter an 18 month training program to become a certified Spiritual Director through the Center of Non-religious Spirituality in 2023. This is my current focus.
